LA NUOVA R.R.R. – Live in Elba

It’s more than five years that in Elba a particular character, popular to many musicians who grew up around that island shores, is celebrated upon his passing away: his name was Pino “Trick” Catanzaro, a long-time friend of musician and painter Luciano Regoli. The 2013 edition of that event, which took place at Teatro Napoleonico dei Vigilanti in Portoferraio, was made under the flag of Italian progressive rock, and saw the participation of La Maschera di Cera and La Nuova Raccomandata con Ricevuta di Ritorno.

“Live in Elba” offers the Nuova R.R.R. exhibition, where the historical members Luciano Regoli and Nanni Civitenga are joined by some of the best musicians in today’s Italian jazz/rock panorama such as Andy Bartolucci (drums & percussions), Maurizio Pariotti (keyboards, piano, programming), Cristina Cioni (choir, backing vocals), Bruno Previtali (guitars), Alessandro Tomei (flute, tenor sax). Songs come both from the classic debut “Per… un mondo di cristallo” and the recent “Il Pittore Volante”, two releases divided by an almost 40-year distance, but joined by the same unmistakable italian prog flavour.

Also with the artwork, a collage of live photos taken during the concert, a short story by Luciano Regoli tells about those old days between the ’60s and the ’70s, and the adventures of the young Regoli and his friend “Trick”.
The CD version, besides the LP tracks, also contains “La spiaggia” from “Il Pittore Volante” and the cover songs of “Babe I’m gonna leave you” (Led Zeppelin), “Fire” (Arthur Brown) and “If six was nine” (Jimi Hendrix), this last one played by the opening group Four Jumps in Pot with Luciano Regoli singing over them.
