Finalmente l’uscita ufficiale su CD per questo disco fantastico, che già aveva ottenuto uno status di culto dopo l’uscita su CD-R autoprodotto dello scorso anno. I Bill in the Tea sono una giovane e talentuosa band siciliana e questo è fondamentalmente il loro album di debutto. Il disco è principalmente strumentale, e mostra delle notevolissimi doti tecniche, con una line-up rock classica con tastiera, chitarre, basso, batteria e un violinista.
Musicalmente parlando si tratta di una miscela entusiasmante e fresca di prog-rock italiano con influenze jazz e post-rock, mantenendo pur sempre un meraviglioso approccio mediterraneo ai loro brani. Formazioni che vengono in mente sono la PFM più jazz (periodo Jet Lag), il Perigeo, i mitici DFA, ma anche King Crimson o Happy the Man.
L’emozione che abbiamo provato dopo avere ascoltato il disco per la prima volta è qualcosa che accade solo raramente, e a nostro modesto parere questa è una delle migliori uscite per il 2014 ad oggi. Altamente consigliato!Finally a proper CD release for this incredibile record that already had gained a cult status with the band’s CD-R self-release last year. Bill in the Tea are a young and talented band from Sicily and this is basically their full-length debut record. It is mainly instrumental, showing high technical skills featuring a classic rock line-up with keyboard, guitars, bass, drums and a violinist.
Musically speaking it is an exciting and fresh blend of Italian progrock with some jazz and post rock influences always keeping a marvellous mediterranean approach to their tunes. Bands that come to mind are the more jazzy PFM (Jet Lag period), Perigeo, DFA, but also King Crimson or Happy the Man.
The excitement we felt after listening to this record for the first time is something that only happens seldomly, in our humble opinion this is one of the best releases for 2014 until today. Highly recomended!
