I Nathan nascono come tribute band di Genesis, Pink Floyd e Supertramp, ma con “Nebulosa” si evolvono in una formazione finalmente in grado di dar vita a brani completamente originali: in poche parole, questo è un vero e proprio punto di svolta nella loro carriera musicale, nonché un passo coraggioso verso il futuro.
Oggi i Nathan sono perciò un gruppo di rock progressivo il cui nucleo è composto da tre musicisti con una vasta esperienza alle spalle: Piergiorgio Abba (tastiere), Bruno Lugaro (voce e basso) e Fabio Sanfilippo (batteria). Collaborano con loro ormai da anni i fidatissimi Marco Milano (pianoforte), Monica Giovannini (cori) e Mauro Brunzu (chitarra). Fondamentale è poi l’apporto del giovane e talentuoso chitarrista Daniele Ferro, che ha dato un’impronta più ‘dura’ alle composizioni scritte da Abba, Lugaro e Milano, e ha permesso che i lavori potessero essere ultimati. Le liriche sono tutte di Lugaro, mentre Abba è il ‘direttore d’orchestra’, l’uomo al quale si deve il grande lavoro di arrangiamento e pre-produzione, e la stesura degli spartiti.
Il disco, nella migliore delle tradizioni prog-rock, è un concept cantato in italiano che narra la migrazione di un popolo alla ricerca dell’acqua in un mondo che ha esaurito le risorse idriche; in questo universo immaginario, “Nebulosa” è una sorta di cometa che indica la strada ai viaggiatori protagonisti della storia. Today Nathan is therefore a progressive rock group whose core consists of three very experienced musicians – Piergiorgio Abba (keyboards), Bruno Lugaro (bass and vocals) and Fabio Sanfilippo (drums) – with the longtime collaboration of the trustworthy Marco Milano (piano), Monica Giovannini (backing vocals) and Mauro Brunzu (guitar). Fundamental has then been the contribute of young and talented guitarist Daniele Ferro, who has given a ‘harder’ feel to the compositions written by Abba, Lugaro and Milano, and made sure that the work on “Nebulosa” could be completed. All lyrics have been written by Lugaro, while Abba is the ‘conductor’, the responsible for a great arrangement, pre-production and sheet-music work.
This record, sung in Italian, as in the best prog-rock traditions, is a concept that tells about a population’s migration in search of water, in a world that has run out of aquatic resources; In this imaginary universe, “Nebulosa” is a sort of comet that shows the way to the protagonists of the story.
