“A pugni nudi” – dal sottotitolo più che esplicito “Per una triste esperienza in un carcere minorile” – è un film del 1974 diretto dal misconosciuto Marcello Zeani, ascrivibile al filone dei polizieschi italiani, che si distingue però per essere ambientato nel mondo del pugilato.
Un film drammatico, con un finale tutt’altro che ottimista o speranzoso, a cui si accompagnano le musiche di Franco Bixio, dalla marcata impronta jazz-rock, con una forte presenza di arrangiamenti sinfonici ed un singolare episodio più ‘scanzonato’ (“Split second”, presente sul lato B del disco).
Insieme al fratello Carlo, Franco Bixio fu fondatore della Cinevox Record, che licenziò questo album originariamente nel 1974, lo stesso anno di uscita del film nelle sale. Un piccolo gioiello, in grado di descrivere egualmente i momenti di tensione e quelli più drammatici della pellicola, ora riscoperto e ristampato per la prima volta in vinile da AMS Records!

It’s a drama movie too, with a non-optimistic nor hopeful ending at all, accompanied by the music of Franco Bixio, with a distinctive jazz-rock imprint, a strong presence of symphonic arrangements and a singular more ‘disengaged’ episode (“Split second”, on the B side of the LP).
Together with his brother Carlo, Franco Bixio was the founder of Cinevox Record, which originally published this album in 1974, the same year of the film screening in theaters. A small gem, equally able to describe dramatic and tensive moments, now rediscovered and reissued for the first time on vinyl by AMS Records!
