“Il Dio Serpente” è un film del 1970 diretto da Piero Vivarelli reso memorabile, tra le altre cose, dalla presenza di una giovanissima Nadia Cassini, semi esordiente ma forse in seguito mai così irresistibile come nelle iconiche scene di questa pellicola.
“Il Dio Serpente” è probabilmente, tra i numerosi film italiani del filone esotico/erotico degli anni ‘70, uno dei più riusciti. L’incontro tra l’occidente e l’affascinante, misterioso e tribale del mondo caraibico e delle sue popolazioni indigene è accompagnato in maniera eccellente dalla musica composta e diretta da Augusto Martelli; “Djamballa” brano di apertura del disco, da solo mescola pop orchestrale, percussioni tribali, psichedelia, cori beat in un crescendo sostenuto dall’organo Hammond, ed è subito manifesto della qualità complessiva di questa colonna sonora. A seguire, il jazz-funk di “Beryl’s Tune” cattura definitivamente l’ascoltatore, che nei successivi brani è inesorabilmente trascinato in un mondo al tempo stesso meraviglioso e oscuro, incontaminato e primitivo.
Negli anni sia il film che la relativa colonna sonora sono diventati oggetto di culto tra gli appassionati, e quest’ultima è nuovamente ristampata in un’edizione esclusiva con audio rimasterizzato e in vinile rosso.

“Il Dio Serpente” (The Snake God) is a 1970 film directed by Piero Vivarelli still memorable today, among other things, thanks to the presence of a very young Nadia Cassini, here a semi-debutant actress who’s probably never been as fascinating as in the iconic scenes of this movie.
“Il Dio Serpente” is probably one of the most successful among the numerous exotic/erotic Italian films of the ’70s. The encounter between the West world and the fascinating, mysterious and tribal Caribbean one and its indigenous populations is beautifully accompanied by the music composed and directed by Augusto Martelli; The opening track of the disc “Djamballa”, alone mixes orchestral pop, tribal percussion, psychedelia, beat choirs in a crescendo supported by the Hammond organ, and represents a perfect sum of the overall quality of this soundtrack. The jazz-funk of “Beryl’s Tune” comes next, dragging the listener into a world that is both wonderful and dark, pure and primitive.
Over the years, both the film and its soundtrack have become cult objects among fans, the latter being reissued here in an exclusive edition with remastered audio, on red vinyl.
