Born in 1991, Minstrel had an outstanding musical approach from the very beginning, using progressive rock in order to combine the different inspirations of the band members. A first demo called "New Life" and especially their second effort "Faust" represented the steps of their musical growth, while "Ahab" surely is the winning post of their development. Minstrel's style bases on three diffenrent musical traditions: classical music (the vocals of Mauro Ghilardini), progressive (the band's stunning rythmic section) and rock (the Hendrix-inspired guitar of Michele Savoldelli).

This concept CD is dedicated to the mortal journey of Captain Ahab as told in Melville's Moby Dick, and is characterized by classic guitar riffs, hard rock rhythms, the astounding lyrical vocals, in Ahab the typical concept opera meets theatre, operatic melodies, heavy sounds and typical Italian prog rock. The story of the captain of the Pequod is told by dramatic metal passages, romantic piano interludes, pinkfloydish guitar solos, long opera melodies (with Italian lyrics), and fierce fusion slaps. While Ahab identifies himself with the band, substained by piano only, the fabolus white whale is represented by the orchestra.

This is a true an dunique gem of Italian prog rock in the usual deluxe vinyl replica format, with probably the best artwork that has been ever produced by AMS Vinyl Magic. First copies will include a fantastic limited edition poster!
