Gli Unreal City sono una band parmense che propone un prog-rock sinfonico con marcate influenze gotiche e dark. Nati nell\u2019aprile 2008 su iniziativa del tastierista\/cantante Emanuele Tarasconi e della chitarrista Francesca Zanetta, hanno visto in seguito l\u2019ingresso in formazione del bassista Francesco Orefice (nel 2010) e del batterista Federico Bedostri (nel 2012). Un EP autoprodotto pubblicato nel giugno 2012 consente loro di entrare in contatto con Fabio Zuffanti (H\u00f6stsonaten, La Maschera Di Cera, Finisterre\u2026), il quale decide di produrre il loro primo album \u201cLa Crudelt\u00e0 di Aprile\u201d.<\/p>\n
Siamo di fronte a un esordio eccellente, da tempo fuori catalogo e oggi ristampato da AMS Records nel classico formato papersleeve, che da subito ha catturato l\u2019attenzione degli appassionati di rock progressivo italiano. Registrato presso gli Hilary Studio di Genova sotto l’esperta guida del tecnico Rossano \u201cRox\u201d Villa, \u201cLa Crudelt\u00e0 di Aprile\u201d contiene musiche sorprendentemente mature al servizio di liriche attuali, nate in lingua inglese e successivamente tradotte in italiano, in funzione del messaggio proposto: il fil rouge che lega saldamente le storie raccontate in questo album \u00e8 la corruzione delle cose e delle persone, il cambiamento, il divenire.<\/p>\n
Gli Unreal City fanno sapiente uso di veri strumenti d\u2019epoca come organi Hammond e liturgici, Mellotron, Moog, Clavinet, Rhodes, uniti a particolari effetti, riverberi ed eco a nastro. La sezione ritmica ha l\u2019indubbio merito di traghettare una musica di matrice anni \u201970 verso un contesto pi\u00f9 moderno e accattivante. Unreal City make wise use of real vintage musical instruments such as Hammond and church organ, Mellotron, Moog, Clavinet, Rhodes, combined with particular effects, reverbs and tape echo. The rhythm section has the undoubted merit of carrying the band\u2019s \u201970s-inspired music towards a more modern and captivating context.
