\u201cCrossing the Line\u201d \u00e8 il primo album degli Asia Minor, band di culto del panorama progressive rock fondata da due studenti turchi residenti a Parigi, Setrak Bakirel ed Erik Tekeli, ancora oggi parte della formazione che ha di recente pubblicato, sempre su AMS Records, l\u2019album \u201cPoints of Libration\u201d (2020, AMSLP164 \/ AMS326CD).<\/p>\n
\u201cCrossing the Line\u201d fu pubblicato nel 1979 e, come nel caso del successivo \u201cBetween Flesh and Divine\u201d, fatta eccezione per alcuni suoni di tastiera resta profondamente radicato nel sound progressive rock dei primi anni \u201970, come pochissimi altri seppero fare in quel periodo. Un debutto gi\u00e0 maturo per la band, qui in veste di trio (Setrak Bakirel – voce, chitarra, basso \/ Eril Tekeli – flauto, chitarra, basso \/ Lionel Beltrami – batteria) con Nick Vicente ospite alle tastiere, in grado di forgiare un album complesso ma perfettamente scorrevole, sorretto da una sezione ritmica solidissima e caratterizzato dalla perfetta alternanza tra momenti trascinanti ed energici ed atmosfere sognanti e \u2018canterburiane\u2019.<\/p>\n
Questa ristampa completa la rivisitazione del catalogo Asia Minor, dopo la recente riedizione di \u201cBetween Flesh and Divine\u201d. Un altro album indispensabile, pubblicato in CD papersleeve con audio rimasterizzato nel giugno 2021 presso i Labomatic Studios di Dominique Blanc-Francard.<\/p>\n

“Crossing the Line” is the first album by Asia Minor, a cult band of the progressive rock scene founded by two Turkish students living in Paris, Setrak Bakirel and Erik Tekeli, who are still part today of the line-up that has recently released, yet on AMS Records, the album \u201cPoints of Libration\u201d (2020, AMSLP164 \/ AMS326CD).<\/p>\n
\u201cCrossing the Line\u201d was released in 1979 and as the following \u201cBetween Flesh and Divine\u201d, exception made for some keyboard sounds, emanates a deep early \u201870s progressive rock feeling, as very few others were able to make in those years. An already mature debut for the band, here officially a trio (Setrak Bakirel – vocals, guitar, bass \/ Eril Tekeli – flute, guitar, bass \/ Lionel Beltrami – drums) with Nick Vicente guest on keyboards, who were capable of forging a complex but beautifully flowing record, upheld by an incredibly solid rhythmic section and characterised by a perfect interchange between between enthralling and energetic moments and dreamy, \u2018Canterburian\u2019 atmospheres.<\/p>\n
This release completes the series of Asia Minor\u2019s back catalogue reissues, after the recent re-edition of \u201cBetween Flesh and Divine\u201d. Another essential record, released as papersleeve CD. Audio remastered in June 2021 at Dominique Blanc-Francard’s Labomatic Studios.<\/p>\n
